 Dancing Profile

 Alisdair Walton

Having grown-up amongst ex-pat Scots in the North East of England and being half-Scottish myself, it is not difficult to see how I got into Highland Dancing!

I trained from the age of six with the Susan Donachie School of Highland Dancing.  I achieved Premier-class standard in competitions at age 12 and have successfully completed all dancing examinations within the B.A.T.D. standard.

However, my real passion for dancing was in entertaining.

I have regularly provided my services to charity events throughout the years and have represented Scotland in a number of Folk Festivals and Events across the world.  Some of my personal highlights include:

·    Inselfest Finkenwerder – Hamburg, Germany (1990)·    Billingham Folk Festival – Middlesborough, England (1991/92)

·    Epcot International Programme – Disneyworld, USA (1993)

·    Folk International Festival – Piatra Neamt, Romania (1995)

·    Festival Internationale de Foclore – Ciudad Real, Spain (1996)

·    International Highland Folk Festival – Zakopane, Poland (1997)

·    Etno-Folk – Vico Equense, Italy (1998)

·    MacLennan Festival – London, England (2008)

I also danced with the 72 Engineer Regiment Pipe Band, Gateshead providing entertainment at many military events & dinners.

Having moved to Kent for work reasons I now train with the Fiona Rae School of Dance based in Offham, Kent.

I am currently studying for my teacher’s qualification.
