A Professional Display of your Choice
Highland Dancing provides a wide choice of dances and styles which can be put together to form an entertaining programme. Dances have been grouped below along with information on Additional Dancers.
|
Traditional Highland Dances
Originally danced by men only in the kilt with either a Jacobean shirt or full evening wear (Prince Charlie jacket and bowtie) depending on formality of event.
-
Highland Fling (the old classic)
-
Sword Dance (always a crowd pleaser)
-
Seann Triubhas (pronounced Shawn Trews) |
|
National Dances
Danced in the triubhas (tartan trousers) or kilt and Jacobean shirt, these are a mixture of mens and ladies dances although they can be danced equally by both.
-
Hielan' Laddie (intricate and excellent to watch)
-
Barracks Johnnie (high energy)
-
Blue Bonnets (great for a large room)
-
Scottish Lilt (a graceful unisex dance)
-
Flora MacDonald's Fancy (not as in Ronald!)
-
Scotch Measure (best danced as a twosome)
-
Earl of Errol (like a highland tap dance)
-
Village Maid (one for the ladies to dance) |
|
Non-Scottish Dances
Not all highland dances are danced in tartan. If you want something a little different then include one of these in your programme.
|
|
Modern Highland Dances
Not all highland dances have their history in the misty past. New dances are now being developed and released...and still being learned by us dancers!
